  Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Meet and greet with your driver, and after transfer to your overnight stay in Kigali. Our professional guide will give you a briefing about the whole trip. Dinner and overnight at Des Mille Collines Hotel (BB)

 Day 2: Kigali City Tour

After a relaxed breakfast, start your city tour of Kigali visiting the Kigali, museum, Gisozi genocide memorial site plus the former Presidential palace. These are great historical and tradition sites demonstrating Rwandan History and culture. Meal Plan – Breakfast. Dinner and overnight at Des Mille Collines Hotel (BB)

 Day 3: Transfer to Uganda-Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, transfer from Kigali Airport to Lake Bunyonyi via Katuna border. Depending on the arrival time, you can opt for a guided village walk to the hilltop bar to get a panoramic view of the lake and the surrounding hills. Games such as pool table and table tennis as well as board games are available. Later, take a walk further up the hills, along village paths to get the view of the beautiful sunset if the weather allows.  Other activities you can enjoy are: cycling around the village, ride a canoe on the lake, take a boat ride to the islands, hire a fishing rod and fish in the lake, swim in the lake but with caution as thermal shock is a real danger (at your risk).  Look out for the rich bird life.  Overnight at Bunyonyi Safaris Resort (FB)

Day 4: Gorilla tracking-Evening Community conservation projects

5 30am:  Breakfast.

6 00am: Transfer to Bwindi Park for briefing from park ranger guides.

8:00am: Start the gorilla tracking. This may take between 2 hours to 8 hours and picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the forest.

Return to Bunyonyi Safaris Resort for overnight. If the weather allows, you will have a campfire dinner by the lakeside.  Our local harpist will entertain you to song and traditional harp music. In the evening, you will participate in our sustainable tourism projects with the local communities near Lake Bunyonyi and Gorilla Parks. “The US $40 community development and conservation fee charged is used to buy a goat or a pig through “the BSR Foundation project” that is given to the orphanage and windowed families in order to develop and improve on their income. After trekking the Gorillas, you will hand over this goat/pig to one of the families living around the Lake and the Gorilla Park. This is an incentive for communities to protect and conserve the environment and the resources available as well as a way for you to give back to both community and conservation.

 Day 5: Canoe Trekking, Bird Watching & Hiking at Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, you start your canoe trek on Lake Bunyonyi, exploring a number of islands and hiking along these islands and hills around the lake in search of birds.  Overnight stay at Bunyonyi Safaris Resort Cottages (FB) Meal Plan – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

DAY 6: To Kisoro-Lake Mutanda

Transfer to Kisoro near the Mgahinga Park; stop over at the viewing platform at the magnificent Kanaba gorge that gives you a wider view of the Virungas, which are Muhabura, Sambinyo and Gahinga. Proceed to Kisoro arriving at your lodge for Lunch. In the evening, you will visit the nearby Lake Mutanda that is within the volcanic ranges. It a fresh water lake with dotted islands. Later transfer back to Kisoro for your overnight stay at Kisoro Travelers’ Hotel (FB). Meal Plan – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Transit Time 2-3 Hours

DAY 7: Mount Sabinyo Hike

After breakfast, transfer to the foot of the Mt. Sabinyo ‘old man’s teeth’; like an old man, time has eroded Mt. Sabinyo’s Crown. Hike through the ridge along the eastern side of the climb to peak. It takes about eight hours to cover the 14km round trip following a steep ridge up to the peak. You will go past spectacular drops into gorges of Rwanda and Uganda and achieve a dual experience; finally you are guaranteed to get your hands dirty en-route to peak 111. Once on top, you will be in Rwanda, DRC and Uganda at the same time. Return for dinner and overnight at Kisoro Travelers’ Hotel (FB). Meal Plan – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 8: Batwa Cultural Trail/Cave Trail

After breakfast, depart for adventurous trail to discover the ways the indigenous “Batwa” pygmies lived in old age setting. Local guides will take you through the 8km gentle trail in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, demonstrating their traditional ways of life along the way, including hunting, gathering honey, fire making and fetching water using the bamboo as their major tool. The trail culminates with a moving performance in the Garama Cave, an important spiritual and cultural site for the Batwa. The cave is 342m in length and 14m deep, and is now inhabited only by bats. Later in the evening, you will leave the park and head to Kisoro town for your overnight stay at Kisoro Travelers’ Hotel (FB) Meal Plan – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 9: Bird Watching in Echuya Forest, Bambo Forest Pygmies-Lake Bunyonyi

Early Breakfast, and after transfer to Lake Bunyonyi with stopovers at Echuya Forest that is rich in primates and Bird life. Look out for the Papyrus Yellow Warbler and Papyrus Canary, if you are lucky as well as Carruther’s Cisticola, Little Rush Warbler and Fawn-breasted Waxbill among other birds. Picnic lunch and later transfer to the Bamboo forest where another group of Batwa was resettled after the forest was gazzeted, you will spend some time with these pygmies who still practice their old traditions, they will dance and sing for you in their local language. In the evening you will continue to Lake Bunyonyi and on arrival, you will check in for your overnight stay at Bunyonyi Safaris Resort (FB) Meal Plan – Breakfast, picnic Lunch and Dinner. Transit Time 3-4 Hours

Day 10: To Queen Elizabeth National Park-Ishasha sector

8 00 am: Depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Southern part of Ishasha.  This is home to the tree climbing lion and hopefully you will see them.  Arrive at the park accommodation and after check in, enjoy an evening game drive in Ishasha sector in search of tree climbing lions, if we are lucky, we shall see them. Return to your overnight lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Savannah Resort (FB). Transit Time 4-5 Hours Meal Plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

 Day 11: Game Drive-Queen Elizabeth Mweya

After breakfast, check out and start your morning game drive as you get out of Ishasha Sector. Head to Mweya and on arrival, check in at your lodge. In the evening after lunch, you may opt for the evening game drive or take a self-guided walk along the Mweya Peninsular. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (FB)

 Day 12; Queen Elizabeth National Park-Game Drive & Boat Ride

6.00 am: Take an early game drive in the park.  The animals will still be hunting for prey.  This park is home to the famous African wildlife such as lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and hippos, hyenas, hogs antelopes etc.  Return to your accommodation for breakfast and rest.

  1. 30pm: Take the boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a channel that connects Lake Edward to Lake George. Believed to be the biggest Hippo concentration in Africa, this area is also great for bird viewing as well as viewing much more wildlife as they come to take a drink of water. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography.  Over 550 species have been spotted here and therefore this is one of the major birding spots in the country. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner. Dinner and Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 13: Queen Elizabeth National Park – FORT PORTAL

8 30am:  Depart Queen Elizabeth after breakfast and head to Fort Portal and as you drive through the park you may see more animals.  Stop over at the Uganda Equator at Kikorongo for photographs.  Arrive at your hotel in time for lunch.  Spend the afternoon at leisure.  In the evening visit the cultural Karambi tombs and the Omukama’s palace at Fort Portal. These are cultural sites for the Toro Kingdom. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner and overnight at Mountains of the moon Hotel (FB) Transit Time 2-3 Hours.

Day 14: Mabere Caves-Kibale Forest.

8 00am: A visit to the Mabere Ganyinamwiru caves in the outskirts of Fort portal town.  This site is famous for hiking, bird watching and rich historical background. Return to your hotel for lunch. 2.00pm: Transfer to Kibale National Park, through interesting landscape.  In the evening, you may take an optional visit to the Bigodi swamp for bird watching or relax for tomorrow’s half day tracking. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale (FB) Transit Time 1-2 Hours

 Day 15: Chimpanzee tracking

8 00am:  A walk through the jungle of Kibble forest to track the chimpanzees.  The park is home to 12 species of primates including chimpanzees; Olive Baboons, Blue Monkeys, Black faced Red Colobus, Black and White Colobus Monkeys; Red Tailed Monkeys; and an incredible array of bird life, including the Great Blue Turaco. Lunch at the Lodge and in the afternoon you can take an optional nature walk around the park or relax by the lodge.

 Day 16: To Hoima

Breakfast, and after transfer to Hoima for your overnight stay. You will drive through the tea plantation and undulating landscape on the edges of the western rift valley. Lunch will be en-route. Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner Dinner and overnight at Hotel Kontiki Hoima (FB) Transit Time 5-6 Hours

 Day 17: Hoima-Murchison Falls

8 30am: Breakfast and proceed to Murchison Falls National Park.  Lunch will be enjoyed at the hotel on arrival. You may opt for the evening game drive, or cool yourself at the pool. Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge (FB) Transit Time 4-5 Hours

 Day 18: Murchison Falls National Park-Game Drive and Boat ride

6 00am: An early morning game drive to look for the big five and their prey.  Before sunrise, they hunt as we hunt for them.  The lion, the elusive leopard, the laughing hyena, the silent elephant, the aggressive buffalos all share this park and struggle for survival.  It’s survival of the fittest.  If we are lucky we shall see them all.  The warthogs and antelopes, as well as the giraffes are all out hiding in the tall savanna grass.  Return to the lodge for breakfast.

2:00pm, you will take a boat ride up the river to the bottom of Murchison Falls.  Hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes and other animals in search of water will be your hosts.  This cruise is also great for bird viewing and photography. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge (FB)

Day 19: Top of the falls-Kampala

8:00am:  A trip to the top of the falls at Murchison Falls.  The view is breath taking.  Proceed to Kampala.  Lunch will be en-route. Transit Time 4-5 Hours Meal plan: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Overnight at Cassia Lodge (B&B)

 Day 20: Kampala City Tour

9 00am:  Proceed for your City tour. The tour will take you to Bulange which is the palace of the Buganda King. The Uganda museum, the oldest museum in East Africa.  The countries main and oldest University, Makerere University, also, one of the oldest educational institutions in Africa. Bahai Temple the only Bahai temple in the African Continent.

Lunch at Ibamba restaurant and after proceed to the craft shops at the National Theater or Buganda Road for your final shopping.  You may opt to have dinner at the Kampala Carnivore where you will enjoy a variety of Ugandan meat and cultural performances. Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch. Overnight at Cassia Lodge (B&B)

 Day 21: Entebbe-Departure

After breakfast, you will transfer to the Airport for return flight.

 Please note that Rwandan Visa has to be applied for and approved on line in advance before travel date on www.migration.gov.rw and for Uganda, it can be obtained on arrival at a cost of $50.
