Day 1: Arrival
Arrive at Entebbe airport, pick up by our staff and you are transferred to your hotel for your overnight stay. Dinner and overnight at Namirembe Guest House (BB)
Day 2: Bird watching in Mabamba-Short City tour
After breakfast, proceed for Mabamba Swamp and board the canoe for the best tour of the swamp. You can find the Shoebill stork, Swamp Flycatcher, Purple Swamp hen, African Water Rail, Common Moorhen, Lesser Jacana, African Jacana, African Pygmy-goose, White-faced Whistling-duck, Squacco Heron, Goliath Heron, Black Crake and many more birds. In afternoon, return to Kampala with Lunch in the city and later transfer for a short city tour that will take you through Bulange, the palace for the Buganda King, Uganda museum the oldest museum in East Africa, Makerere University, one of the oldest educational institutions in Africa. Bahai temple, the only temple of Bahai faith in Africa (this will depend on the time availability) In the evening return back to your lodge for overnight stay. Day 3: Kampala – Rhino tracking at Ziwa sanctuary-Murchison Falls NP
7 00 am: Depart for Masindi, via the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The sanctuary has been established to breed black and white rhino which got extinct in the country due to heavy poaching in the early 80s. Lunch at the sanctuary and after, proceed to Murchison Falls NP for overnight stay. Transit Time 2-3 Hours Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Accommodation Sambiya River Lodge (FB)
Day 4: Murchison Falls National Park-Game Drive-Boat Ride
6 00am: After a quick cup of coffee, take an early morning game drive to view herds of elephant, lion, buffalo, baboon, warthog, leopard, giraffe, and other wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast. In the afternoon, enjoy the wildlife, birds and scenery as you take a boat cruise up the river Nile to the bottom of Murchison Falls. Hippos and crocodiles are in plenty, other animals such as elephants and buffaloes will be watering at the water’s edge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch & dinner. Accommodation: Sambiya River Lodge (FB)
Day 5: Murchison Falls National Park – FORT PORTAL
Depart Murchison Falls after an early breakfast. Head for Fort Portal, the area where Semliki & Kibale Forest National Parks are situated, lunch en-route and on arrival, you check in at your hotel for overnight stay. Transit Time 6-7 Hours. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch & dinner. Accommodation: Rwenzori Travelers inn (FB)
Day 6: Semuliki NP Game Drive, Boat Trip
6.00am: Depart for Semuliki National Park, ideal for primate safaris, birding and butterflies. The common animals include the elephant, buffalo, sitatunga, leopard, Uganda Kob, a wide range of birds. Parked lunch in the park and after take a trip to the healing hot springs at Sempaya before returning back to the hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch & dinner. Overnight at Rwenzori Travelers inn (FB)
Day 7: To Kibale Forest.
Depart for Kibale National Park, through the thrilling meandering roads. Visit a number of crater lakes along the road to Kibale and you will arrive in time for lunch at your overnight hotel. In the evening, you may take an optional visit to the Bigodi swamp for bird watching. Transit Time 1-2 Hours. Dinner and overnight at Chimp Nest Kibale (FB)
Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking
Get your walking shoes on as we move through bush and jungle to spend time with our fascinating relatives, watching them swing through the trees or move quickly across the ground in front of us. The park is home to 12 species of primate. The Primates include Chimps; Black and White Colobus Monkeys; Blue Monkeys, Black faced Red Colobus, Red Tailed Monkeys; Olive Baboons and an incredible array of bird life, including the Great Blue Turaco. Lunch at the Lodge and in the afternoon you can take An optional nature walk around the park or relax by the lodge.
Day 9: To Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the best National Park of Uganda with outstanding wildlife. In the evening, you will go for the evening game drive to take through the Kasenyi sector and the baboon cliff, you will also have a chance of looking at some of the crater lakes in the park. Overnight at Simba Safari Camp (FB). Transit Time 3-4 Hours
Day 10: Queen Elizabeth National Park-Chimp tracking-Launch cruise
After an early Breakfast, depart for Chimp tracking in Kyambura gorge on the edge of the Western Rift Valley. You will spend some time with these primates as they play and feed. Return to your lodge for lunch.
Day 11; Queen Elizabeth National Park-Game Drive -Ishasha
6.00 am: Take an early game drive in the park. The animals will still be hunting for prey. This park is home to the famous African wildlife such as lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and hippos, hyenas, hogs antelopes etc. Return to your accommodation for breakfast and rest. In the afternoon, transfer to Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth NP. This sector is famous for tree climbing lions, look into the cassia branches as you may see some lions resting in tree branches. Other animals like Elephants, buffolos, baboons may be seen in this area. Overnight at Savannah Resort Hotel. Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 12: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Lake Bunyonyi
8.00am: Today you will transfer to the highlands of Kigezi, the climate is mild and the nights much colder. Check in at our lodge, Bunyonyi Safaris Resort (BSR) in time for lunch.
4.00pm: Take a boat ride around the lake to get a view of some of the 29 islands OR spend the afternoon at leisure. A hike to the hilltop to get a view as the sunsets behind panoramic volcanoes is a must. At the hilltop enjoy the bar, with pool table, table tennis or have a game of football with the village kids. Bunyonyi means a place of little birds, and here you may see the resident African Harrier Hawk, Yellow-backed, spectacled weavers, Levillant, and king fisher. You can also hire one a bike from the lodge and enjoy sceneries of the village or hire a fishing rod and try your luck at catching the elusive tilapia in the lake. Day 13: Boat Cruise-Birding, & Hiking at Lake Bunyonyi
8 30am: After breakfast, depart for an early morning boat cruise to the swamps on the lake to view the birds before they fly off. The cruise will take about an hour and your guide will give you a history of the lake and the islands as you enjoy the view. Some of the birds you may see include Handsome Francolin, Dusky Tutle Dove, Alpine Chat, the resident African Harrier Hawk, Yellow-backed, spectacled weavers, Levillant, among others. Return to BSR for lunch. In the afternoon, you will take a guide hike in the hills of Bunyonyi, the guide will give the interesting historical background of these sites. Dinner will be served at the camp fire if weather allows.
Day 14: Transfer to Rwanda
After breakfast, transfer to Cyanika Boarder, visit the twin Lakes ‘Burera and Ruhondo’. Overnight in the vicinity of Volcanoes national park. Proceed to your overnight stay at Muhabura Hotel Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 15; Gorilla tracking
Trek Gorillas/ later in the afternoon visit the Iby’iwacu cultural village, also participate in the Community development and conservation project. Overnight stay at Muhabura Hotel Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 16: Dian Fossey-Gisenyi
Dian Fossey hike, and later afternoon transfer to Gisenyi for your overnight stay at Paradise Malahide Motel. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 17: Lake Kivu
Spend entire Day at Lake Kivu, enjoy the sights. Overnight stay at Paradise Malahide Motel. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 18: Kibuye
Transfer to Kibuye, sightseeing en-route. Overnight at Centre Bethanie. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 19: Nyungwe NP
Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe top hill view hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 20: Chimpanzee tracking
Chimpanzee trekking in the morning and later afternoon head out for a Canopy walk. overnight at Nyungwe top hill view hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 21: Kigali
Transfer to Kigali, visiting the national museum, national university and the King’s palace in Butare and Nyanza respectively. Overnight at Common Wealth Guest house Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 22: Genocide visit
Visit the Gisozi genocide memorial site, plus the Nyamata and Ntarama churches for an insight in to the 1994 infamous Rwandan Genocide. Overnight at Common Wealth Guest house Meal Plan: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Day 23: Kigali sightseeing-Departure
Sightseeing around Kigali, later in the early evening transfer to the Airport for your departure flight, meal plan: Breakfast and Lunch
