RWANDA HIGHLIGHTS SAFARI


Day 1: Arrival in Kigali- to Akagera National Park

Arrival at Kigali airport, you will be met, welcomed and picked up by our Guide who will brief you on your trip. Later on start the Drive to Akagera National Park passing through Rwanda’s scenic landscapes. On arrival, Check in your Lodge and enjoy Lunch.

In the evening, proceed with a southern sector and head for boat cruise alongside the Lake Ihema to see hippo pods and crocodiles plus a variety of water birds. The rest of the Evening will be spent at leisure. Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner, Overnight at Ruzizi Tented Camp (FB)/Akagyera Game Lodge (FB) Transit Time: 3-4 Hours

Day 2. Game drive and transfer to Kigali

Check out early Morning with packed breakfast and head for the game drive that starts with a spectacular sunrise and early morning bird songs. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and landscape through the northern circuit where you will see hippos, crocodiles and even more wildlife than on the lake circuit. Proceed to the Southern Sector where you will have a chance to view plenty of animals, including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles and also many other mammal species. Known as one of the most scenic savannahs in East Africa, the game drive in Akagera provides you with the opportunity to also view gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies. Later on after an early Lunch, Transfer to Kigali and on arrival, you will be dropped at your overnight accommodation. Overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel (BB)/Radisson Blue Hotel Kigali (BB) Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch, Transit Time: 3-4 Hours

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park-Butare Museum

Early Morning breakfast and transfer to Nyungwe Via Butare Town where you will take a visit to the National Museum of Rwanda, providing you with a deeper insight into Rwandan history and culture. Lunch in Butare and after you will then continue on to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Nyungwe is the only destination in the world where you can see up to 13 species of primates in a single location, including rare species such as Chimpanzees, the Blue Monkeys, L’Hoest’s Monkeys and the Angolan black and white Colobus Monkeys. Nyungwe presents a unique phenomenon in primate tourism due to its huge concentrations of habituated primates whose troops can include 400 to 500 individuals! Dinner and Overnight at Nyungwe House-Suites (FB)/Nyungwe House-Rooms (FB) Transit Time: 5-6 Hours

Day 4: Trek chimpanzees

Early morning trek to the chimpanzees. Following your trek and depending on available time, you may take optional activities from the following:

Listen to a presentation on the ecology of Nyungwe Forest National Park and the ongoing conservation efforts, including the managing of the dynamics and coexistence of park/wildlife and local communities. Dinner and Overnight at Nyungwe House-Suites (FB)/Nyungwe House-Rooms (FB)

Day 5: Transfer to Ruhengyeri-Pac Nationale De Volcanoes

Early Breakfast at 7.30 and after transfer to Ruhengeri via Kibuye Gisenyi for lunch before arriving at Volcanoes Park in the evening for Overnight stay. Dinner and Overnight at Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge (FB)/Virunga Lodge (FB) Transit Time: 5-6 Hours

Day 6:  Gorilla trekking in Rwanda’s Park Volcanoes-To Kigali-City Tour-Departure

Have your breakfast at 7.00am, and after carry your gorilla trekking gear and then report at the ORTPN offices for registration and briefing at 7.30am. Drive to the Volcanoes National Park for a memorable gorilla trek. Gorilla trekking may sometimes seem to be strenuous so trekkers are required to be fit because it may take from 2 hours to 10 hours. An encounter of the gorillas after a tiring trek is rewarding!

Later return to your Lodge for Lunch, and after transfer to Kigali and on arrival, proceed for Kigali City tour. Transit Time: 3 Hours

You will visit the genocide memorial. The Kigali Genocide Memorial was launched in April 2004 on the 10th Anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide. This Centre is well built on a place in Kigali where over 250,000 people were buried after genocide. These graves are obvious assistant inflections of the cost of ignorance in Africa. The site is an enduring monument to   fatalities of Rwanda genocide. It is a place for people to mourn for their loved ones that yielded to the genocide. It contains an eternal exposition of the Rwandan genocide and a display of other genocides around the world.

Later on proceed for Dinner in Kigali and after at around 10.00pm, transfer to Kigali Airport in time for check in for your flight to Mahe departing at 01.20
