KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

“The primate capital of the world”

The park covers an area of 795sq km.it is best known for its primate Populations with 1450 chimpanzees and 13 other species .thus becoming the primate capital of the world. It is located north of queen Elizabeth National Park where they also join to form a 180 km long corridor between ishasha the remote southern area of Queen Elizabeth National Park.it is shared by the districts of Kabarole and Kamwenge.

ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVIES IN KIBALE NATIONAL FOREST.

Kibale is a home to a total of 170 mammal species, most famously 13 species of primate Including the chimpanzees kibale has the biggest number of chimpanzees in Uganda and Africa as a whole the park also offers the un common L’ Hoest‘s monkey and East Africa’s largest population of the threatened Red colobus monkey other primates include, Black and White colobus monkey Blue monkey, Grey –cheeked Mangabey (Uganda mangabey), Red-tailed monkey, Bush baby and potto.

It also offers 335 species from the nearby community run by Bigodi wetland sanctuary.

Activities with in kibale national park include; chimpanzee tracking and habituation, birding, cultural walks and hiking, bird watching,
