Kidepo valley National Park lies in the rugged semi-arid valleys between Uganda’s boarders with Sudan and Kenya, in the kidepo region hence explaining the name of this park. It covers an area of 14,425sqKilometers. The park offers spectacular views of the wildlife within the park due to its flat and open plain nature.
The park is situated 700km from Kampala city, a 12 hour minimum and 13 maximum drive and a 2hr flight from Entebbe International Airport.
ATTRACTIONS AND ACTIVITIES WITH IN KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK.
Kidepo valley national park, is gifted with a profusion of big game and hosts over 77mammal species, 475 bird species, Elephants, Zebras, Giraffe, Eland, Heartbeats, Lion, Hyena and cheetah.
It also comprises of Africa’s best single herd of buffaloes that roam rolling in the grasslands that extend in all directions towards distant ranges.
Other unique wild life species in the park include the Arad wolf, Bat eared fox, cheetah, stripped hyena and ostrich.
Other tourist attractions in kidepo valley national park include; Apoke tourism centre, Narus valley, Kidepo valley and Kanagorok Hot springs, mount morungule, Namamukweny valley, Lomej hills, Lanyili Mountains, among others.
ACTIVITIES IN KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK.
While in kidepo valley National Park, one can engage in a number of activities that may include;
Game viewing, Hiking/Nature walks in the Lomej Mountains, and Narus valley respectively.
Bird watching, and cultural encounters to the Karamajong communities.
ACCOMODATION DURING ONES’ VIST TO KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK.
Unlike other National Parks, Kidepo Valley National Park has limited accommodation facilities whether inside nor outside however this shouldn’t hinder you from paying a visit to the true African Wilderness as there are a few established accommodation facilities such as
Apoka safari lodge, Kidepo Savana Lodge, Apoka Rest camp and Kakine Self-catering camp side these are found inside the park.
All that can be reserved for you on tentative booking directly or through a tour operator.
Outside the park, you may choose Nga’moru wilderness camp.
